but a rewrite from scratch would have to be in different words, and now your copy and the official standard have diverged.

I have no idea how you could go about finding the original author. National Body comments come in from the the national bodies and are then consolidated and sent to the committee for action.

so, for example, you’ll get a comment like this

Denmark<number>, technical comment, the default value for Foo results in an out-of-range value for Bar when the process in section 6.4.2.6.3 is used, recommended action: adopt the following more complex algorithm for computing Bar in 6.4.2.6.3

<algorithm>

or even complete replacement or additional text.
