[MPEG-OTSPEC] Proposed revision of the OFF sub-clause 5.4.3 "CFF2 - Compact Font Format (version 2) table"

Dear Murata-san,

 

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion.

Adobe is a member of US National Body, and they certainly do not need anyone’s permission or approval to submit their input contribution directly to SC29/WG3. However, because CFF2 is an important part of the OFF standard, I asked them to share their early draft of updated CFF2 spec for public review in this AHG. The public review gives an opportunity for AHG members to comment on the draft, which would only benefit the content of future submission, and provides an additional time for all interested parties to familiarize themselves with the proposed changes. 

This is how we’ve done things in this AHG for many years since it was established.

Although this looks like a very important contribution, I do 

not think that people in this "AHG" have time to review it

before the input submission deadline for the next SC29/WG3 

meeting. 

 

If you really don't want to miss the next WG meeting, I think 

that this document should be submitted to WG3 by 

some country rather than this "AHG".

I would like to bring to your attention a new issue #48 that has been raised on MPEGGroup/OpenFontFormat GitHub <https://github.com/MPEGGroup/OpenFontFormat/issues/48> . It summarizes the proposed changes and updates in the current description of the CFF2 table format (sub-clause 5.4.3 of the OFF 4th edition standard). The revised draft text of the new sub-clause is offered for public review.

 

I realize that we are approaching the holiday season when many families get together for celebrations, and this may not be an ideal time to get the work done … Having said this, we are still 20 days away from the input submission deadline for the next SC29/WG3 meeting [that is scheduled for January 17-21, 2022] and I believe we have plenty of time to review and finalize the draft. Please do so – your comments and proposed changes would be very much appreciated.
