<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">Microsoft has just published version 1.8.1 of the OpenType spec. (Vlad was aware this was coming.) The primary purpose of this minor release was for refinements related to Font
Variations, but there were a small number of other technical refinements made. I had also gotten requests to make some changes in the data types used, and so I used this opportunity to apply a set of global changes to have some consistent conventions for data
types, replacing the size-ambiguous SHORT, etc. types with size-explicit types. Because of the data type changes, this will probably be one of the broadest changes to the OT spec, in terms of the number of pages touched, for a long time.<o:p></o:p></p>
