I’d like input on one bit of feedback filed on OT 1.8.3 / suggested change:

Most (top-level) tables in the OT spec are versioned, and have a member named “version” or a “majorVersion” / “minorVersion” pair. But there is one table that deviates from this: in the ‘name’ table, the versioning member is named “format”.
I’ve checked all other tables, and ‘name’ is the only one that does this.

(The
Adobe CFF spec is a bit exceptional in that it has member names “major” and “minor”. That’s not something that can be readily changed.)

So, the question is this: I’m inclined to change the “format” member in the ‘name’ table to “version” to be consistent with the remainder of the spec. (I’d consider that a non-technical change that would be in scope for OT 1.8.4.) What
do you all think?
