Indeed. Our team in Tokyo encountered the same lack-of-CMYK issue while preparing the SVG glyphs for the Ten Mincho (貂明朝) update that we released during Adobe MAX Japan 2018 earlier this week. See:

In particular, they realized this issue while preparing printed collateral material for Adobe MAX Japan that uses the glyphs in the SVG table.

    Is it possible to build a SVG in OpenType font that defines CMYK colors? This would be important to match colors in printed corporate communications (logos..). "CMYK 0, 0, 0, 1" prints quite differently from "RGB 0, 0, 0".
    
    Did we specify a font format that can’t be printed reliably?
