Google has been working on tooling that can go from SVG artwork to a COLRv1 font. This uses a combination of nanoemoji (https://github.com/googlefonts/nanoemoji) (with a dependency on picosvg https://github.com/googlefonts/picosvg) for compiling COLRv1 data from SVG, and fonttools. Cosimo has been updating these, and can provide more details.

Dominik has been working on updates to FreeType and Skia for rendering, and may have started prototyping integration in Chromium. He can provide more specifics on that front.

May I request an update for this group, from those implementing COLR v1, regarding the status of the new spec in fontTools and FreeType? Reports on implementation progress in other relevant systems, font editors or design applications would also be welcome. Early opportunities for building and testing COLR v1 fonts are valuable!

thanks,

- Laurence
