[MPEG-OTSPEC] AHG kick-off - we have important work to do!

Hi Josh,

Thank you very much for expressing [on behalf of Adobe] your position
regarding the recent proposals summarized as "Technologies under
consideration" document. I absolutely agree that continued discussions are
necessary to openly discuss technical details of each proposed part, and
resolve any concerns implementers may have to move things forward.

However, I do not want to rule out continued discussions on this email list
and wait for a hybrid meeting to happen - we have multiple tools at our
possession, including dedicated Font Format Zoom account, email list, and
opportunity to organize and conduct face-to-face / hybrid AHG meetings that
are captured the AHG mandates. I think that email list would be a very
useful tool for both hashing out the agenda of future F2F / hybrid meetings
and for post-meeting follow-up discussions to agree on concrete next steps.
All these venues of communication are within reach, for as long as we are
following the ISO rules and code of conduct, which, among others, include
requirements for preliminary AHG announcements that'd give sufficient time
for anyone who'd like to participate in these meeting to join.

For the sake of making progress and starting substantive discussions, it
would be great if you could clearly describe what part(s) of the proposed
changes you see as those that would be easier to incorporate, and what
specific concerns related to other parts that Adobe would like to see
addressed. I believe identifying low-hanging fruits, splitting them apart
and finalizing the necessary details to introduce changes in the OFF text
would be a good first step to help this AHG move forward. Our mandates
allows us to have Zoom AHG meetings for as long as we announce them on this
list two weeks in advance, and organizing first Zoom meeting to address
non-controversial parts of the proposed changes would be both possible and
practical, considering that we have three weeks left before we reach
deadline for input contribution registration (on July 10).

Thank you,

Vladimir

Vlad and AHG participants,

We at Adobe have reviewed the recent proposals in "Technologies under
consideration" and wanted to share our thoughts with the group.

First and foremost, we want to express our general support for the ideas
proposed. We think all of the end goals are useful and, when implemented,
will be big improvements. We also think it might be best to consider them
individually rather than all at once since some of the ideas will be easier
to incorporate than others.

We do have some significant concerns around the specifics of some of the
proposed implementations, and we'd like to work with other implementers and
stakeholders to come up with something that can work for everyone. Rather
than try to hash this out through email, we think it would be better to have
a series of hybrid meetings (open to all, and which we are willing to host)
to discuss and work out the technical details.
